WEST VIRGINIA STENCILED STONEWARE JARS, LOT OF TWO, salt-glazed, each of cylindrical form with slight shoulder, flat-top rounded rim, Albany-slip glazed interior, comprising an approximately two-gallon capacity example and an approximately one-gallon capacity example. Each with stenciled cobalt designs including larger example featuring two bands with zipper-like designs and remaining having "Superior." banner to front. A.P. Donaghho, Parkersburg, WV. Circa 1875. 9 1/4" H, 5 3/4" D rim and 11 1/2" H, 7 1/4" D rim.Condition "Superior" example in excellent, undamaged condition; two-gallon example having moderate chip to rim, mostly interior, and red paint, primarily to interior and some minute remnants to exterior.
