VIRGINIA MERCHANT'S STENCILED STONEWARE JAR, salt glazed, designated two-gallon capacity, cylindrical form with slight shoulder, flat-top rounded rim, beaded neck ring, Albany-slip glazed interior. Cobalt stenciled "E.B. TAYLOR / Richmond, Va.", a wreathed "2" gallon capacity mark below flanked by additional starburst and dot decorative stencils. Fourth quarter 19th/early 20th century. 11 5/8" H, 7 3/8" D rim.Condition Mostly undamaged, except having a tight hairline to rim and a chip to underside of base.
