STAMPED "CORTLAND", NEW YORK DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, "2" gallon capacity mark, cylindrical form with slight shoulder, flat-top, slightly flaring galleried rim, double-incised shoulder rings, Albany-slip glazed interior. Bold brushed and slip-trailed cobalt stylized foliate design, additional cobalt to stamps including an asterisk below capacity. Madison Woodruff and Romanzo Smith, Cortland, NY. 1867-1869. 10 1/4" H, 7 1/2" D rim.Condition Undamaged, having some scattered staining. Manufacturing flaw including stone pop above base on front, as made.
