BALTIMORE, MARYLAND DECORATED STONEWARE JARS, LOT OF TWO, each salt-glazed, of semi-ovoid form with collared, squared rim, comprising a "1 1/2" gallon capacity mark example with applied arched handles and an approximately one-gallon capacity example having applied arched tab handles. Each featuring brushed cobalt dropped feather and flower decoration from neck to each side, additional cobalt to handle terminals including one with cobalt below handle. Second half 19th century. 9 1/2" H, 5 3/4" D rim and 10 7/8" H, 6 3/4" D rim.Condition "1 1/2" gallon example having professional restoration to a rim chip and one handle with a minor chip to each end; one gallon example having some minor scattered flakes to rim and a moderate chip to one handle and remaining having a minor chip to each end. Manufacturing flaws including "1 1/2" gallon example with uneven rim and some stone pops, as made.
