BALTIMORE, MARYLAND DECORATED STONEWARE JARS, LOT OF TWO, each salt-glazed, of semi-ovoid form with squared rims and applied arched tab handles, comprising a "I" gallon capacity mark (horizontal) example and a "2" gallon capacity mark example (partial stamp). Brushed cobalt decorations including one having dropped feather and flower decoration from neck to each side and one with a double dropped feather from neck decoration to each side, each having additional cobalt to handle terminals. Second half 19th century. 9 1/2" H, 6" D rim and 12 1/8" H, 6 3/4" D rim. Condition "I" gallon example having two chips to rim, one moderate; "2" gallon example having one handle with a chip to each end, one moderate and one minor, and some whitish residue to rim with drips. Manufacturing flaws including "2" gallon example with slight indentation above base, as made.
