ASSORTED STERLING AND 0.835 SILVER LORGNETTES, LOT OF TEN, various examples of mostly folding styles, some with short handles having ribbons or chains and some medium length handles, including a small folding example with probably original leather pouch or case gilt-stamped "A. BALLARD / 15. QUEEN STREET / OXFORD / OPTICIAN / TO THE / EYE HOSPITAL". One marked "835" with an Austrian import hallmark having Linz city mark, remainder marked for sterling fineness, some with maker's marks. Various makers including American examples. Most late 19th/first quarter 20th century. 5" LOA without counting chains.Condition Good to excellent condition overall, several with essentially nothing more than minor wear and tarnishing; others heavily tarnished, some with minor losses to hinges or clasps affecting the angle at which they fold; a couple with breaks and/or possible welded repairs to frames especially triangular-diamond lens example which has multiple breaks to frames causing one lens to sit loosely.
