WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA STENCILED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, designated five-gallon capacity, semi-ovoid form with flat-top rounded rim, incised and beaded neck ring, applied arched handles, Albany-slip glazed interior. Stenciled cobalt "T. F. REPPERT. / MANUFACTURER / GREENSBORO. / PA." with several additional decorative stencils including spitting tulips, cobalt brushed "5" above base with additional stripes and wavy line decorations, additional cobalt to handle terminals. Thomas Reppert, Greensboro, PA. 1884-1890. 17 3/4" H, 9 1/4" D rim. Condition Excellent condition, having a shallow chip to base edge and a minor chip to rim underside.
