WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA STENCILED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, designated three-gallon capacity, cylindrical form with slight shoulder, beaded neck ring, applied arched handles, Albany-slip glazed interior. Stenciled cobalt spread-wing American eagle holding a banner in beak with "EAGLE POTTERY", "3" hand-brushed below, brushed light cobalt decoration above, additional cobalt to handle terminals. Hamilton & Co. (as Eagle Pottery), Greensboro, PA. Circa 1875. 13 3/4" H, 8 1/4" D rim.Condition Mostly undamaged, except having a rim hairline to back and some areas of staining, especially on lower half and back.
