CONTINENTAL CERAMIC COMEDIC / HUMOROUS FIGURAL HUMIDORS, LOT OF THREE, comprising two clowns including one with hearts and one anthropomorphic monkey smoking a cigar, sitting behind an open basket match holder, and wearing a dress and hat. Marks to underside include impressed beehive, "JM", "BB" and various numerals. Bernard Bloch, Eichwald, Bohemia; Johann Maresch, Austria or Czechoslovakia; and other. Fourth quarter 19th/first quarter 20th century. 9 3/8" HOA.Literature: Parallels Horowitz - Figural Humidors, Mostly Victorian, heart clown p. 65, fig. 300.Condition Monkey undamaged; hearts clown having three minute flakes to back and some minor scattered glaze wear/loss; blue clown having a chip to interior flange on top, head reattached, and some scattered glaze wear/losses.
