ASSORTED AIR FORCE / MILITARY ISSUE PROTECTIVE SPECTACLES / GOGGLES, LOT OF FOUR, comprising an American Optical Co. manufactured Variable-Density Goggle issued to Air Force gunners, with original tin and a couple envelopes for replacement lenses plus instruction manual explaining its use "for tracking a target in the vicinity of and across the face of the sun", a WWII era leather fur-lined red-plastic lens goggle marked on the inside with the AO monogram and "U.S. 1945", a steel-framed amber-plastic lens goggle stamped "AERO PEAK / PERELES BROS. / MILWAUKEE", and a pair of wire framed servicemens' gas mask spectacles specially designed to be worn under a respirator, with case. Together with a "Nod And Shake" pair of Gas Tight Rubber Goggles "For the use of FIREMEN, CHEMICAL WORKERS..." etc. in its cardboard box. Five pieces total. Various makers. Early and mid 20th century. 5 3/4" x 3 3/4" x 3 1/4" Variable-Density Goggle tin.Condition Very good to excellent condition overall, gas mask spectacles undamaged and seemingly unused; Nod and Shake goggles with rust inside lenses but otherwise fine; Aero Peak with heavy wear and some surface rust, Variable-Density Goggle with some surface age cracks to rubber and with instruction sheet having come unglued from the tin; 1945 leather goggles with drying and excessive hardening to leather
