REVERSE-PAINTED GLASS OPTOMETRIST TRADE SIGN / STORE DISPLAY LAMP GLOBE, opaque white/milk glass, flattened circular form atop a pedestal base, resembling a gasoline pump globe, with rear having concentric circles embossed design and front with recessed panel having "EYES / EXAMINED" in blue reverse-painted under glass, additionally with oval-shaped chromolithograph cutouts of a pair of eyes, framed in black painted eight-sided spectacles, the globe having a molded cutout/hole at the rear of base through which a lamp's electrical cord would travel. Circa 1920. 7 1/4" H, 4 1/2" D painting sight.Condition Glass body excellent with some light chipping around cord access hole; reverse-painting in poor condition with significant loss to blue and some of the white paint and some discoloration to eye cutouts. Paint chips are still present/sealed behind the glass panel.
