This is a small turtle figurine carved from banded calcite. Calcite is a carbonate mineral and the most stable polymorph of calcium carbonate (CaCO3). It is a very common mineral, particularly as a component of limestone. It is easy to carve into, which makes it one of the most popular minerals to create carvings from. The turtle figurine measures approximately 3.75" x 2.375" x 1.25", and is in good condition.
