5.75x9" on thick paper. Invitation to the "Grand Inauguration Ball" on "March 5th, 1849" w/engraving of Taylor in military uniform on a mountain overlook. Listed among the "Managers" are Winfield Scott, Alexander Stephens, Robert E. Lee and " Hon. Abraham Lincoln, Ill." Lincoln's Congressional term had ended the prior day but as an ardent supporter of Taylor he remained in Washington for the ceremonies before heading back to IL disillusioned by politics and intent on practicing law. Some faint moisture ripples along bottom edge, as well as some age toning along the edges, otherwise moderate handling. Technically VF, but will frame above grade. A very nice example of this historic artifact.
