Neptune House Smick's Hotel Atlantic City, New Jersey 1863 Single merchant town Store Card NJ-020-A-2a (R-4) Dies (obv/rev) 28120/28130 Copper, plain edge, 19mm diameter.John Smick was listed as a comb maker from Philadelphia by 1839. From 1851 to 1857 he was listed as a confectioner. By 1859 he was in Atlantic City and was on the City Council. The Neptune House was the fifth largest hotel in Atlantic City and could accommodate 150 guests. By 1864 he was back in Philadelphia.
