The collection of Coins, of which the following is a Catalogue, having been for many years unarranged, and almost unknown, in the College Library, the author undertook the task of arranging them, at the direction of the heads of the College and, although wholly inexperienced in such matters, he did so the more readily, hoping that it might excite in the College some inquiry, at least, about a study too generally neglected, and almost despised, but which, from the light it throws on history, as well as its intrinsic interest, is well qualified to engage the attention of literary men.
