22x28" oversized cardboard window card by "Globe Posters-Baltimore." Promoting a concert in Warrenton, VA at W.C. Taylor High School on "Thurs. Mar. 8" in 1962 featuring "The Fabulous James Brown Famous Flames, "Yvonne Fair, Baby Lloyd" and "6 Beautiful Dancing Girls The Brownies." Off the charts graphics featuring a youthful image of Brown emerging from the oversized "James Brown" text all set against a blazing DayGlo orange background. Only 60 miles outside of Washington D.C., W. C. Taylor High was an all-African American school built during the Jim Crow era that did not desegregate until 1969. This poster captures Brown and his band in front of their primary audience at the height of their artistry a mere five months before "Live At The Apollo" would be recorded. Poster has a 2" vertical tear stabilized on reverse w/archival tape, age toning along r/l and bottom margins, corner tip and scattered handling wear. Fine. Bright fresh colors and a world class design, even by the lofty standards of Globe Posters. 1960 census data lists a population of 6,000 in Warrenton, VA. Given Brown's intense touring schedule it's unlikely that this jumbo window card was distributed widely, and this is the only example known to us.
