11x17" offset print on thin cream stock produced before the show. PNW flyer promoting a Mercyful Fate and Slayer concert at Starry Night in Portland, OR on Thurs. Oct. 18, 1984. The gig was moved to Oct. 20 as Mercyful Fate arrived before their equipment causing Slayer to miss the engagement and were replaced by Final Warning. The show was the North American debut of the influential heavy metal artist from Copenhagen, Denmark. Superb graphics by prolific artist Mike King who hand signed in pencil at lower right and is signed in print "MXK 666." Corner loss at top right not affecting text, one each horizontal and vertical creases, clear wear from posting and handling. Good. This is the plate example on p.217 of the King, Herring & Gore authored book Maximum Plunder where it received a full-page illustration. That an example in this condition was the only available illustrates the rarity of this important heavy metal gig flyer.
