India, Awadh State 1814-1815 AD (AH 1229) One Rupee, Silver Diameter: 22 mm Weight: 11.14 gr. Condition: Extremely FineStruck at Lucknow in the name of the Mughal Emperor, Shah Alam II , this coin features a stylized fish on the reverse, the dynastic symbol of the Nawabs of Awadh , a Persian Shia Muslim dynasty.Saadat Khan Burhanul Mulk was appointed Nawab in 1722 and took advantage of a weakening Mughal Empire in Delhi to found the Awadh State and Dynasty. Later Saadat Ali Khan became a puppet king, who in the treaty of 1801 ceded half of Awadh to the British East India Company and also agreed to disband his troops in favor of a hugely expensive British-run Army.
