Metal grind mechanism.Two separate teak wood cylinders. The top one is for salt. Remove the side peg add salt and it shakes from the topThe bottom cylinder has a peg that can be removed to store whole peppercorns. Turning the item grinds thru the mechanism to expel pepper from the bottom. It appears to be a medium grind that is not adjustable.One of the salt pegs does not easily remove. No forcible attempt was made.
