This is a small Set of Three ( 3) original French Revolution era ASSIGNATS: denominations, a 10 S ou s note (1793) + a 5 Livres note (1793) + a larger 100 Francs note (1795) . All four notes are in well-used, circulated condition, w/ light to heavy wear, old "fold-lines", small tears, staining, etc. Notes grade aVG to aFine or slightly better....Now for some history: the French Revolution was funded by issues of paper money known as "assignats". These little promissory notes were essentially a form of "emergency" money, and were issued between 1790 and 1795. Because far too many assignats were printed--literally millions-- they became worthless. In 1795, presses were destroyed and production ceased. A nice decorative border surrounds each of the notes + they have the usual "blind"/embossed seals. Printed on fine, laid paper. A really GREAT French Revolution monetary item, today over 200 years old! LOW beginning bid! Buyer pays $1.95S&H, slightly higher for Air Mail postage outside the U.S. ***Please see scans. I am showing the front & back sides (these notes are "uniface", i.e. printed on one side only; the backs are blank). They is printed in black & white. While these notes are is less than perfect condition, they are still quite collectible! They are NOT Junk!
