To celebrate the tenth anniversary of Canada's $1 coin( loonie) the loon is honoured again, this time on sterling silver proof dollar. For many, the laughter of the loon is the true voice of the Canadian wilderness. With tapered body and white -patterned plumage, the loon is favourite subject of Canadian artists. For the 1997 Silver Proof Dollar, artist Jean-Luc Grondin has chosen to portray the loon in that dramatic moment of simple primitive power just before flight.
