1916 WARE'S BASEMENT M101-4 #41 SAM CRAWFORD (HOF) CSG 2.5 GOOD+.

Pricing & History
Utilizing the same checklist and images as the 1916 M101-4 blank-backs set, Ware's Basement located in New Rochelle, NY promoted their sporting goods department with these 1-5/8x3" baseball cards. Depicted here is National Baseball Hall of Famer Sam Crawford, star outfielder for the American League's Detroit Tigers from 1903-1917, following his initial 4-year stint with the Cincinnati Reds beginning in 1899. "Wahoo Sam", as he was known, compiled an impressive .309 career batting average along with nearly 3,000 hits and remains the MLB all-time leader in career triples with 309, leading the league on six different occasions. Crawford was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1957. These scarce Ware's advertising backs typically carry a multiple-times premium over the more common blank-back version and would make a terrific addition to any type-card or HOF card collection.
