Interesting mint state grade example of the 1879-S Morgan Dollar. This coin is graded NGC MS64* (#3617322-005) and features a deep mirror cameo prooflike obverse and a frosty white reverse.The obverse exhibits contact marks consistent with its MS64 grade while the reverse grades at least MS65.One could argue that this coin is half prooflike (though the obverse is more important regarding Morgan Dollars). OK, we'll call it 55% prooflike to note the hierarchy of the obverse vs. reverse.This coin makes an educational piece to show the difference between true prooflike surfaces vs. the usual mint state surfaces.Shipped with USPS First Class.
