This shallow crown is made from poplar and has a circumference of 22”. The sidewall is straight in the front but has a slight slope in the back. It is 1 ½” high and it has a slightly convex shape on the tip so it is not perfectly flat on the top. The number 72 is written in marker on the bottom. It has been recently lacquered and is in good condition. This type of crown was often paired with a picture frame brim to create a shepherdess look but it could be blocked with most any brim to create an attractive hat. The crown could also be blocked on its own as a pillbox or fascinator.
