Up for auction at the Grand Antique Mall, located in Cincinnati, Ohio is an antique Weller Pottery "Wild Rose" EWER or PITCHER Signed by L. Knaus. Incised artist's initial is " K " indicating the Weller artist L. Knaus . On the front is a hand painted and sculpted wild rose, with cream and pink petals, and a yellow center. An exquisite gift combining history, beauty, and art. Circa: 1920.Weller Pottery, founded in 1872 by Samuel Weller, quickly grew in popularity and sales. By 1882, Weller. moved his company to a larger facility in Zanesville, Ohio. Weller hired artists to create "art pottery" in order to compete with Rookwood Pottery.
