Baccarat Crystal Lipstick Holder was made for Christian Dior. The crystal glass obelisk holder was made in the 1950s and was available to accompany a perfume bottle of the same obelisk form which contained Miss Dior Perfume. The obelisk form is referred to as Neo-Egyptian style. The heavy glass lipstick holder would have held replaceable lipstick tubes and was meant to sit elegantly on the dressing room vanity near your mirror. It measures almost 4” high and is printed in paint on the bottom with “Christian Dior”. The gilt metal that is attached to the base is heavy and quite suitable for supporting the gorgeous and weighty crystal. One would probably not be purchasing this exquisite lipstick holder at the corner drugstore. This Dior Crystal Lipstick holder is featured on the cover of Roselyn Gerson’s “Vintage and Contemporary Purse Accessories Identification & Value Guide, and also inside on page 157. Additionally it is featured prominently in the book “Lips of Luxury” by Jean-Marie Martin-Hattemberg. If you’re a vintage lipstick collector, this one is a “must have”.
