This very attractive fire screen has a lovely woolwork, tapestry panel in greens, beiges and blues. The subtle colours are soft and worked in a stylised pattern reminiscent of an old fashioned, Jacobean type design. The wood frame measures 47.5 cm wide and is 65cm high. It stands on two sturdy feet and has a convenient carrying handle. I think the wood is probably mahogany and is a nice rich brown and is in good condition. I think this fire screen dates from the 30's but could be earlier, however, this is only a guess. This screen would make an attractive edition to any fireplace giving a traditional, vintage feel to any room.
