This listing is for a vintage wood chess and checkers complete set with wood fold up playing board included. It is used/pre-owned. Please read the Condition section for further details about the grading. This set is what I would consider a " tweener " or a hybrid cross between a home or office table set and a travel set. Since the board does fold up, it gives the indication of a travel set but the playing pieces are a good enough size where it might also be considered a table set. When opened up and laid flat, the playing surface measures 9 and 3/4 inches by 9 and 3/4 inches. Each playing square on the board measures 1 and 1/8 inches by 1 and 1/9 inches. The chess playing pieces range in size from 1 and 3/8 inches tall (pawns) up to 2 and 7/8 inches (kings). The checkers pieces each have a diameter of 1 inch. I showed in the 3rd scan provided that the board does fold up and the chess and checkers pieces can be stored inside it. The only negative against this set is the folding board was made with no closing or locking mechanism so the original owner kept it closed with the pieces inside by way of a rubber band. It is unmarked as to maker or the year it was made. It could be older than 1970, but since I do not know with certainty, I did not want to place it in the pre-1970 category to be safe.
