This is a beautiful tea set from Colonial Williamsburg, made by Stieff Pewter of Baltimore. This is one of their most iconic designs. The teapot design was adapted from an 18th-century original made in London by Samuel Ellis and now in the Colonial Williamsburg collection. The creamer, also in the collection, is an exact reproduction of an English or American pitcher. The sugar was adapted to match the pitcher. The tray predates the more modern tray used with this set; the newer tray has a faux wood base to resist the minute scratches which the soft pewter acquires from use. All the pieces could use a good cleaning, and the wooden handle on the teapot would benefit from some lemon oil or some other moisturizer. All pieces are fully and correctly marked. The tray has dings and scratches from being used. A nice set to use and display. The tray is about 14 inches. The Teapot is 8 inches high to the top of the finial on the lid. The opening is 3-1/2 inches across. The creamer is 3 3/4 inches high and 4 inches from spout to handle; the opening is 1 7/8 inches across.
