Sadler Teapot - Historical Series - The Battle of Trafalgar 1805 This is one of several Sadler teapots that my Mom bought in England about 20 years ago The teapot has never been used, only displayed in a china cabinet, and is in overall very good vintage condition - there are no cracks or scratches, but there is a 1/2" chip on the underside of the lip of the lid (see 9th and 10th photos) This would not affect the functionality of the teapot if you wanted to use it and it cannot be seen when the teapot is displayed. The teapot commemorates Vice Admiral Lord Nelson's famous naval victory, The Battle of Trafalgar, in 1805 The background is off-white trimmed with gold, and the front and back panels of the 8 sided teapot depict Vice Admiral Lord Nelson along with the Captains of some of the ships Vice Admiral Collingwood, Captain Hardy, Captain Berry, Captain Cooke and Captain BlackwoodThe lid depicts the ships Royal Sovereign, Victory, Agamemnon, Bellerophon, and Euralus The design is number 2010605 and the Sadler Part Number is 4540 The approximate measurements are height 6.5", width 4" (spout to handle 7.5"), and depth 3.5" James Sadler and Sons Ltd is the world famous pottery manufacturer originally founded in 1882 in Stone-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England.
