Another fabulous piece by Reja, this sea turtle brooch is sterling silver with clear and green glass rhinestones, blue eyes. This brooch has been refurbished: This brooch originally had a gold vermeil but most of that was gone so it is silver with some gold vermeil residue in the crevices of the design. It also was missing almost all of its clear rhinestones and a couple of the green rhinestones. I was able to reuse all of the green stones which are not foilback stones and use a couple of matching new green stones in inconspicuous places. All of the clear rhinestones throughout were replaced with new ones in the correct size. I used GS Hypo cement glue for the rhinestones which is the best and most common glue used for placing rhinestones. This brooch is 2 1/2 inches by 5/8 inch and weighs 36.71 grams.Reja began in 1939 as "Deja" but changed it's name to "Reja" in 1941 because of a lawsuit. The company went bankrupt and was out of business by 1953. The pieces they created are very nice quality and designed to replicate the "real" thing in gemstones and other materials.Enjoy!
