VINTAGE B&O RAILROAD“CENTENARY” BLUE CHINA DIVIDED DINNER PLATE Up for Auction is this Vintage Used Baltimore and Ohio Railroad “Centenary” Blue China Divided Dinner Plate in excellent condition. With no cracks, chips or crazing. There is some very minor glaze flaw on the backside and in the compartment wells, very unnoticeable and still a great piece for display. (we will try to show in the pictures, but so small in the compartment wells it is hard to show in the picture) The plate is double back stamped 1827 1927 Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Scammell's Lamberton China Design Patented in blue, (very faint and imprinted) Scammell's Lamberton. . The Plate has 3 compartments, 1 compartment is Potomac Valley scene, 1 compartment is Thomas Viaduct 1835 and the large main course compartment is Cheat River, each with a floral border. The rim The “First Stone Laid July 4, 1826” and a history of trains: Horse Drawn Car 1830 The “Tom Thumb” 1830 The “Atlantic” 1832 The “Philip E. Thomas” 1838 “ Winans Camel” 1851 Mogul “600” 1875 The “Lord Baltimore” 1925 The Divided Dinner Plate measures 10 3/4” in diameter. My husband's grandfather was an Engineer for the B&O Railroad until he retired in the 1960's. He purchased items directly from the B & O Railroad Co., Dining Car and Commissary Department.
