Fabulous Miss Priss BLUE CAT Ceramic Cookie Jar. Sold by the LEFTON Co. The cookie jar measures ~7 1/4" tall x ~ 7 1/2" wide x ~6 3/4 " deep. It was made in Japan for the Lefton Co. in the 1950's. It has the paper Lefton label on the bottom and is marked 1502. Overall the cookie jar and lid are in excellent condition- really outstanding for their age; there are no major chips, cracks or crazing. The only things I could find (by feel or with a magnifying glass) was a very small chip on the underside of the rim at the top where the lid sits, and the tiniest flea bite on the base. I did the best I could to photograph these, but the angle and the size made it difficult. The tip of the flower on the lid has also been repaired, but it's a great job and hardly noticable (see photos).The Lefton Company was founded by George Zoltan Lefton in 1941 in Chicago. Lefton was one of the first American businessmen to deal with the Japanese after World War II. The first pieces of Lefton China with the "Made in Occupied Japan" mark reached the United States in 1946.
