Vintage Italian Cartapesta Christmas Angel Paper Mache From as estate, is this heavenly paper mache angel. I believe this is ca. 1950's. She is made from the 17th century Italian art technique known as Cartapesto. She is about 4 1/4" high x 5 3/4" from hand to wing tips. She has a lovely copper colored gown with a gold sash around her neck. Her wings are blue and pink like clouds on the outside, antique white on the inside. She has a musical instrument that looks like a violin. The original "Made in Italy" red and gold label is still on the inside of her wing. One of her forearms has been glued back on. She has a crack on each wing. Nevertheless, she will look great on your tree! I am not an expert on these, so please look the pictures over well for the final judgment on condition. I have another Cartapesto angel on auction this week. No extra shipping if you win both.
