Here For Auction Is A Beautiful John Elkan / Dennison Open Face Pocket Watch In A Stem Wind & Set, Hallmarked Silver Case. Dated 1920.This lovely pocket watch, in a Dennison case, No 398530 . is in very good condition, it has a Birmingham Hallmarked Silver 'V' (1 920 ). .925 it has no dings or scratches and very little pocket wear. What looks like the original glass is good , one tiny chip to the very edge but no visible gra zing , the pure white dial Signed- John Elkan, 35 Liverpool St. EC. 69 Cheapside EC. 70 Leadenhall St. EC. 'Colonial' has two badly done repairs at 10 and 4 o'clock, no visible hairlines, it has golden spear and whip hands and black Roman numerals with a sub seconds dial at 6 o,clock. All the catches and hinges are very good so the covers close nicely. The watch measures 50mm across and 15mm deep. The makers mark is A.L.D. For Aaron Lufkin Dennison. Aaron Lufkin Dennison (Born in Fremont U.S.A. in 1812) worked very close with the Waltham Watch Co. untill he moved to Birmingham England in 1874 and opened the Dennison Watch Case Co. Making watch cases for all the top watch makers such as Rolex and Omega etc. that ran untill the 1960s (for more information please visit Grace,s Guide on Google).
