Offering an 1880-1890 F. A Meanea saddle carved in the Spanish Colonial technique. Francis (Frank) A Meanea JR. was one of the original Wyoming Territory Saddlemakers and is probably one of the most desirable makers to collect. I bought this saddle, not knowing its maker, I loved the intricate rosetooling, the leather was in good shape and the seat measured 15âe instead of the usual 14âe found in saddles of this vintage. I replaced the sheepskin, the riggings were set back to be more stable, the strings were replaced, and alas, I had the brass saddle horn covered, unaware until later that it was supposed to be that way. When the saddle maker called me to pick up the saddle he told me it was an F.A. Meanea and to look it up. So I did. Iâe(tm)ve put a lot of miles on this saddle. It is a very comfortable ride, it's a beautiful saddle to collect, or use. A lot of history if only it could talk. It is similiar to the saddle Meanea made for Charles Russell. Thank you for your consideration. Weight 41+ lbs. Buyer to pay shipping.
