FIRST TIME OFFERED Up For Auction is my personal Vintage San You Fujian Cork Carving. This particular Cork Carving was purchased in the early 1980's, with my intention of displaying it in a room dedicated for works of art in our home. But, as our family started to grow, rooms were being dedicated to bedrooms, instead of art rooms; so this San You Cork Carving was Never Displayed. As a result, I am listing it as New Old Stock (NOS), since I have the original box and labels, which are still attached to the box and the San You Cork Carving's Display Cabinet. Over the 30+ years, it has been removed a handful of times, to admire the workmanship that has gone into creating the Cork Carvings, and most recently to photograph it for this eBay listing; each time it has been returned to its original box. As the years progressed, that room that was to be dedicated to Art, never materialized, for one reason or another. Now, unfortunately ( for me, not you ) a Life Changing Event, has forced me into a situation where I must sell All my Art Collections, All of my Personal Interest Collections, and much of my personal belongings. Cork Carving originated in the early years of the Republic of China period, near Fuzhou, the capital city of Fujian province. Every single piece is hand carved and glued together to make the scene, which is a Diorama of a Chinese Pagoda, Bridge, Trees and Cranes. The Diorama is enclosed in a Brown Lacquered Wood-framed Display Case; NOT your typical Black Lacquer as 99% of those you see on the Internet, and with clear glass protection; NOT plastic, as some of the inexpensive cork carvings are. The Brown Lacquer Display Case was naturally air-dried, which ensures that the lacquer will not crack over time.This Vintage San You Fujian Cork Carving. measures 9 7/16" (at the base) X 4 5/16" High (total) X 2" Wide (base). The Cork Carving's Diorama can be enjoyed with a 180° Viewing Angle. I believe the Brown Lacquer finish of this Cork Sculpture, will complement most people's furniture, regardless of the design genre of the furniture, or interior design of one's home; more so than the Black Lacquer finish, one sees on the majority of Cork Carvings.I have attempted to capture, IN ALL , the wonders of this Vintage San You Fujian Cork Carving Diorama . One could imagine walking among the trees, then across the Bridge; stopping to appreciate the Beauty of the Cranes, then onward and up to the steps of the Pagoda; this Diorama is that Realistic!
