VINTAGE CARNIVAL CHALKWARE BLACK BOY WATERMELON BANK BLACK AMERICANAClassic Americana Black Boy clutching watermelon figurine 12" tall. Watermelon has a slit in it to insert coins. Bottom of item has been opened so coins can be removed and plugged with a very old looking cork and piece of cloth.This is an unusual example of this chalkware figurene because the boy's hat looks like a jockey's hat with green color going from front to back with white areas at the sides. Also the boy's pants are red which is unusual and he is sitting on brown colored chalk probably meant to look like dirt.The piece has lots of knicks in the paint but is not broken or cracked. I saw a Black boy chalkware figurine in an local antique shop recently with a $325 price tag on it.14 day returns.
