We are offering this small antique portable sewing/tatting kit featuring an enchanting original miniature maritime oil painting which would be a perfect addition to a miniature oil painting collection, a vintage sewing kit collection, or an antique box collection. We are selling this piece as a delightful display piece and not as a functional sewing kit.The case or box is made of red and gold hand-decorated textured paper over wood and gesso. Unhook the front clasp and lift the lid to reveal an incomplete set of sewing or tatting tools fitted in black velvet. The outside top of the box lid is highlighted by a sweet miniature maritime seascape oil painting. The box has an unadorned brown paper bottom. The outer dimensions of the rectangular box with lid closed are approximately 2 7/8 inches wide x 2 inches high x 5/8 inch thick.The charming miniature maritime oil painting on the lid depicts a colorful seascape with a rocky beach or shore scene featuring children on the beach. A sail boat is offshore in the bay or cove, with a clipper ship in the distance. It is unsigned. The painting itself is approximately 2 1/4 inches across x 1 1/2 inches high. See photos for comparison with a U.S. quarter.The peach colored silk/satin lining inside the lid serves as a hinge to keep the lid in place when it is opened.Fitted onto the original black
