Vintage Sterling Silver Relief Scrolled Foliate Decorated Gin Bottle or Decanter Label dated 1972 This Delightful Vintage Decanter Label measures approximately 4 3/8 inches or 112 mm in length from the base of the label to the top of the chain when it is hanging by 2 1/2 inches or 64 mm across the width of the label and it is 1 5/8 inches or 42 mm deep. The bottle or decanter label is made from solid sterling silver in a slightly curved oval shape that has a superb embossed or relief decorated scrolled foliate outer border around a round central panel that has been engraved with the word GIN all as photographed below, the bottle or decanter label has a silver chain hanging from either side of the top that is long enough to go around the neck of a bottle or decanter and the label has Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram. The front of the label has been impressed with a full set of English solid sterling silver hallmarks that read as follows, D H & S - Anchor - Lion Passant - stylized X D H & S is the Birmingham silversmith or makers mark of David Hollander & Son, the Anchor is the mark of the Birmingham assay office, the Lion Passant is the mark of English solid sterling silver and the stylized letter X is the date letter for 1972.
