Circa roughly 1950's, these two advertising pinbacks / button pins were a promotional item given to customers of RED AND WHITE FOOD STORES. Established in 1925 in Chicago, they helped independently owned grocery stores compete with large chain stores by doing centralized buying and distribution for these small stores. The early age here is evidenced by the small manufacturer's label seen on the back of the small pin ...(Last Photo). It reads: Bastian Bros Co. Mfr's of Ribbon Metal and Celluloid Novelties..Rochester, N.Y. Local..(N411?) Amalgamated Lithographers of America..Rochester. Founded in 1915, this union merged with the International Photo Engravers Union in 1964, dating these pins from that date or before. The two pins with the store's signature "Red Dot" logo, remain in amazingly perfect, displayable condition!!GOOD LUCK AND THANKS FOR VIEWING GOODEYE'S COOLBUYS!Be sure to add me to your favorites list !
