Vintage 1918 Art Deco Victoria (Schmidt & Co) Roses Coffee Can A very pretty Art Deco coffee can, saucer and sucrier/sugar bowl crafted by Schmidt & Co in Czechoslovakia under the trade name "Victoria". The design features a bouguet of red and yellow over a mid-blue panel with light blue discs inside. The rim has a yellow band of concentric semi circles. The design is set on a pure white ground and finished with an elegant gilt trim. This beautiful coffee can and sucrier would display wonderfully in a country cottage, or on a table in a shabby chic interior; or be a much loved means of enjoying an expresso. A Little about Victoria. This Czechoslovakian manufacturers backstamps have followed its nations fortunes with backstamps featuring Austria, Czechoslovakia and Germany. Nowadays the republic has split into two seperate nations. Founded 1883 by Lazarus and Rosenfeld, Ltd. 1885 it was sold to Franz Schmidt. It was the largest factory in the country andhasproduced some high quality pieces. In 1945 it merged with the Altrohlau Porcelain Factories and the EPIAG factories to become a part of Starorolský Porcelán, then Karlovarský Porcelán Stará Role II in 1958.
