This is a huge stone - it looks like an opal triplet to me (backing, opal slice, clear quartz) but I am not an opal expert. What I can tell you is that it is old, has a 1940s style to me, is 18K gold (marked 18 ct which is indicative of a Commonwealth country such as Australia and Great Britain). Large triplet opal (that's what it looks like to me) but I am not an expert -- it is colorful and pretty 18 ct kt gold size 7.5 weighs 6.26 grams top measures over 3/4" long and over 1/2" wide. This is in good condition for vintage jewelry, no damage and is quite striking. Unless otherwise indicated my items come from a variety of sources and are used and may show signs of wear, I will try to show as many views as possible so you can see the condition yourself.
