Vintage Set (2) Brass Carriage/Coach Eagle Lanterns 1880's PatinaThis rare set of patriotic brass carriage/coach lanterns from the 1880's features brass eagle finials. They are a wonderful accent piece for the country home, on either side of the hearth or simply mounted on the wall. A great conversation item! The Lanterns measure approximately 26" from top to bottom including the handle. The lantern alone measures 18" while at it's widest portion it measures 9".The bottom handles are removable as seen in the photographs. There are 4 panes of original glass on each lantern. The back metal flap is clasped and closes at the top and opening by hinge at the base. The lanterns were crafted in the 1880's and are in very good vintage condition. There are splits to the metal of both bases as seen in the photographs. Also, present besides splits in the metal are the following: some rust spots in the interior/exterior, discolorations, dings, small dents and scratches. The glass has no cracks, but some small scratches detected. Item could be restored and polished up and or braised (at splits); if desired or left in vintage condition. The way the brass was crafted in the 1880's has left a few sharp edges/burrs on the two tiers as well as varying shapes to the eagles head. They are not identical. It is just the way they were made.
