Fine Victorian McQueen Top Hat Said to have belonged to Sir Winston Churchill Inscription inside hat reads " W. Churchill - Home Sec 1911" Here for auction is this stunning and unusual historical item, a Victorian McQueen Top Hat. This top hat, however, is said to have had a famous past owner, Sir Winston Churchill. The hat has a number of inscriptions inside "W.C" and "W. Churchill - Home Sec 1911 " In the days when most men aspired to the status of a gentleman, the Top Hat was the outward and most visible sign that they had succeeded. Beautifully made, this black classic wool felt hat has a 6 inch high crown that gently tapers outward. The brim is 2 inch wide with the traditional Victorian curl. There is a leather sweat band inside the rim of the hat and this includes an inscription of " W. Churchill - Home Sec 1911 " inside , this hat was likely made in circa 1890s. This item was purchased privately a number of years ago and was said to have been given as a gift to one of Churchill's drivers in 1912, sadly the piece has no COA but with items such as this they rarely do, unless they have remained within the family connected to an historical person. This is a rare chance to own a unique piece of history and a personal item of clothing possibly related to one of England's greatest sons, Sir Winston Churchill . Below is an image read more
