Offered is a great example of a victorian figural napkin ring that I picked up at our local Goodwill.I spotted this little gem from an aisle away and was pretty pleased after a week of not finding much of anything.This is listed in a book that I have called A price guide of American Victorian Figural Napkin Rings by Joanne Grant. It is on page 18 and is valued at 175.00. This book is from 1977 so I would expect the value to have increased a bit.This is what she called Dog reaches for scared cat Meriden 275. This has the Meriden Plate Co. mark and has the 275 number as well. T is also another number 5600. This is not perfect since t are a few nicks or dings on the edge of the ring itself. T is a small amout of wear to the silverplate just under the dog. T have been no repairs that I can see and I would consider this to be very good condition. These are becoming harder to find and more expensive especially for the animals. This measures approx. 3" high and 3.50" across. Please ask if you have questions and I will answer all promptly. It has been brought to my attention that the tail may be broken but it does not feel broken. It is rounded and smooth so it may be a repair. T is no picture of this in the book that I refer to so I looked around online and did find another just like this w the tail is longer.Also the person stated the read more
