This auction is for a 212-page, 12 ¼" high x 9 ½" wide x ½" deep book entitled, "Victorian and Edwardian Fashions from La Mode Illustree," by JoAnne Olian. "La Mode Illustree was one of the most popular and avidly read fashion periodicals in the second half of the 19 th century. Wealthy, style-conscious women followed its dictates on appropriate wardrobes for a vast number of social functions - form royal weddings and elegant dinner parties to automobile touring and seaside activities. Fashion authority JoaAne Olian, former curator of the costume collection at the Museum of the City of New York , has selected from the pages of this highly influential French publication a striking array of costumes from the Victorian and Edwardian eras.
