ANTIQUEDARK BLUEHISTORICAL AMERICAN STAFFORDSHIRE CHINA10 1/8" PLATETHE VALENTINECLEWSC1820SI SHIP WORLDWIDEINCLUDING CHINA AND RUSSIAOffered in this sale is an antique dark blue English transferware - transfer printed - plate decorated with a scene titled on the back THE VALENTINE From Wilkies Designs that was made by Clews circa 1820s. You can find an example of this plate illustrated in Historical American Staffordshire An Illustrated Check-List by David and Linda Arman on page 44, figure 93. It measures roughly 10 1/8" in diameter. This piece part of a small estate collection of Historical Staffordshire and early American Glass that I will be posting for sale over the next couple of days and then again starting just after Christmas while I am away for the Holidays in Quebec. Be sure to check my postings from time to time. The condition of the plate offered in this sale is excellent. There are no chips, cracks, flakes, hairlines, surface scratches or restoration of. Even when you tilt this in the light you will see no utensil or any other marks on the surface glaze which is hardly ever the case with these early pieces which are close to two hundred years old now.
