Staffordshire Childs Pearlware Toy Dinner Set PlateGREEN DIMITYThomas Dimmock and Co. Staffordshire England c 1840This is a scarce miniature transferware cheese or pie plate c1840, originally part of a complete miniature children's dinner service. The doll size octagonal plate measures 2-1/2 inches across with a hand cut 8 panel rim. Extremely well potted, to the standards usually only seen in full-size Staffordshire table wares, transfer printed in an earthy forest green with an overall star or snowflake sheet print and a contrasting scroll border trim, finished with pearlware glaze.The piece is un marked. Sometimes found marked with the embossed initials of the maker, Thomas Dimmock, a well known pottery maker in the Staffordshire region of England from 1828-1859. The pattern name is "DIMITY". A very popular pattern, documented in Doris Lechler's English Toy China as pattern #87.The piece is in great condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Typical typical manufacturing imperfections original to the making, adding to the charm and authenticity. Impeccably made.
