Buckley Moss has created an original watercolor especially for WVPT. Each year, prints of the original are made and sold exclusively through WVPT to support the broadcast of culturally enriching programs and series on WVPT. Known as "The People's Artist," P. Buckley Moss is a patron of the arts and is a champion for children with learning disabilities. "Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest" is the second of four prints in the Presidential Homes of Virginia series that artist P. Buckley Moss created exclusively for WVPT. This print, from 1994, is a stately portrait of the Virginia landmark located in Bedford County, Virginia, near Lynchburg. Construction began on Jefferson's octagonal retreat in 1809 and, by 1814, it was complete. Jefferson referred to Poplar Forest as his most valuable possession, along with Monticello, and spent much time there until his death in 1826. Many families lived in the house until restoration efforts began in 1984, including Jefferson's grandson and read more
